Training in specific trade mark fields at OHIM and the UK Patent Office
19-22 November 2001, Spain, the UK.
Five Philippine and six Thai officials from these two national IP offices took part in this comprehensive course designed with the objective of improving trade mark administrative and examination procedures within the IP Offices. For two days, these officials attended a thorough and very detailed training on OHIM' s procedures and practices relating to absolute grounds examination, with special emphasis on new issues such as colour marks and three-dimensional marks.
The second part of the course took them to the UK Patent Office in Wales, where they spent a day discussing trade mark practices, along with taking hands-on experience of the UK system. This two-fold training course touching upon Community-wide and national systems offered participants unique insight into the mechanism of implementing a regional trade mark office.
