Preparation of Guidelines on Trade Mark Procedures,? Manila, 7-11 July 2003
Further to the guidelines on Substantive Patent Examination prepared by the EPO, the IP Office of the Philippines (IPO) has sought to elaborate on guidelines pertaining to the procedures and practices for registering of trade mark. To this end, two experts from OHIM?s Trade Marks Department -- Ms Ilse Mayer and Dr. Jorg Weberndorfer-- spent a week in July 2003 holding a series of detailed discussions with representatives from the Bureau of Trade Marks, the Bureau of Legal Affairs. The aim is to assist the IPO in producing guidelines on trade mark examination procedures. The guidelines resulting from this activity will serve as a valuable tool for the IPO staff, one which will also ensure transparency in the practices applied by the IPO.
