Improvement of Post grant/post registration procedures, Manila (25 - 29 August 2003)
Within the framework of the EC-ASEAN Intellectual Property Rights Co-operation Programme (ECAP II), an EC funded industrial property project, a number of activities are been carried out to improve efficiency at national IP offices. The purpose is to upgrade and harmonize IPR systems, both at regional and national level (effective and TRIPs compliant). The objective of this expert mission falls under the Programme purpose of assisting in the modernisation of intellectual property offices.
The IPO in the Philippines has requested an update of the existing post grant/registration system. The EPO?s ?post grant? procedures cover the period up to the end of the opposition phase, after which the respective national offices take up the responsibility for post grant and post registration processing, changes and transfers of ownership and records management etc.
The Swedish patent office has kindly accepted to provide advice and share their experience with the IPO in the Philippines with regard to post grant procedures.
Mission?s task:
An expert from the Swedish Patent Office (Mr Ulf Jansson, Director, Head of Examining division) will spend one week (five working days) at the IPO in Manila to:
- Present the procedures and models used in Europe on post grant and post registration processing, changes and transfers of ownership and records management
- Make recommendations on how to improve the post grant/post registration system at the IPO.
(The working language will be English).
