Welcome to ECAP II

Thailand recognizes the importance of intellectual property as one of the most essential elements in the development of any industrial economies. It is apparent that the modern economy needs proper propagation of intellectual property information in order to effectively carry out their duties both on the promotion and enforcement.

In this respect, the Department of Intellectual Property warmly welcomes cooperation and assistance from the European Communities under the EC-ASEAN Intellectual Property Rights Co-operation Programme (ECAP II) and, in particular, for choosing Thailand as the location of the Local Coordination Unit (LCU). In recognition of the need to strengthen the intellectual property management system, ASEAN members have and continue to actively participate in the ECAP II Programme in the hope that their IP systems will be greatly enhanced and completely meet international standards.

The establishment of a website for the ECAP II programme will indeed provide a forum for members to exchange experiences and share new ideas on how to better further our goal of development in light of the knowledge based economy.

The Department of Intellectual Property of Thailand would like, on this occasion, to congratulate the LCU not only on its recent accomplishments but also on the successful launch of this website. We look forward to continuing our work with the European Community and the LCU for the success of the ECAP II Programme.
