A welcome by Pham Dinh Chuong, Director General, National Office of Intellectual Property, Vietnam Today, in the context of increasing economic globalization, intellectual property more than ever has become an important impetus to international trade, investment and the world economic growth. Countries and regions need to enhance their efforts via international cooperation to ensure adequate and effective protection on the global scale. Each individual country should improve and modernise its national intellectual property system towards meeting international standards in the light of the TRIPS Agreement.
Thanks to the ECAP Programme, ASEAN countries have been benefiting from the support and assistance of the EC in upgrading their national intellectual property systems.
As for Vietnam, the participation in the ECAP Programme is meaningful to the continuous development of her national intellectual property system. We are looking forward to the effective implementation of the ECAP Programme thus helping ASEAN countries in general and Vietnam in particular to overcome encountering challenges ahead.
